Union County government provides services to residents throughout the county, while sex offender registry searches are handled through the statewide PSP Megan's Law system at no cost to the public.

Megan's Law entries for Union County offenders include current name and aliases, year of birth, a current photograph, residential address, employment city and county, the offense that requires registration, and conviction date when known. Photographs are updated at a minimum once each year. PSP refreshes the public website on the same day any verified change is entered into the system. The registry covers only those individuals who have current, active registration obligations under Pennsylvania law. Prior convictions that no longer carry a registration requirement will not appear in public search results.

Sex Offender Tiers in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania's tiered classification system applies to sexual offenses committed on or after December 20, 2012. Tier I offenders in Union County register for 15 years with once-yearly in-person verification. Tier II offenders register for 25 years with twice-yearly verification. Tier III offenders carry a lifetime registration obligation and must verify in person every three months. The PSP registration details page specifies which offenses trigger each tier classification. Union County offenders are assigned to whichever tier their offense qualifies under, with the same obligations that apply statewide.
Offenders with convictions predating December 20, 2012 fall under the prior registration framework and are designated either as ten-year or lifetime registrants, both requiring annual verification. Union County registrants who have no fixed address are classified as transient and must verify monthly. All registration obligations come from 42 Pa.C.S. Chapter 97. The Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment Board conducts evaluations to determine whether an offender meets the criteria for Sexually Violent Predator designation.
Sexually Violent Predators form a distinct category separate from the three tiers. A court designates an individual as an SVP when a qualifying sexual conviction is accompanied by a SOAB finding that a mental abnormality or personality disorder makes the person likely to engage in predatory sexually violent conduct. SVPs in Union County register for life, verify quarterly, and trigger active community notification whenever they establish or move to a new residence in the county. Time spent incarcerated does not count toward any registration period for any tier or category.
Note: Union County offenders who are designated as SVPs and who move to the Bucknell University campus or into the adjacent residential area will generate community notifications that reach the university administration and nearby residents.
