Sexually Violent Predators (SVPs) are a separate classification. An SVP is an individual convicted of a sexual offense and found by a court to have a mental abnormality making future predatory offenses likely. SVPs register for life and verify quarterly. Daycares and licensed preschool programs are also notified. Colleges and universities within 1,000 feet of the address receive notification. The director of the county children and youth services agency is always included.

Sexually Violent Predators and the SOAB
